Why answer-first structure matters

AI answer systems often extract a direct, well-supported passage rather than reading every paragraph in order. Put the answer near the top, then support it with detail, examples, limitations and evidence.

Five structural improvements

Use a direct opening answer, question-shaped headings, specific bounded figures, named products or standards and verifiable non-promotional claims. A paragraph should still make sense if it is quoted away from the page.

  1. Answer the core query in the first one to three sentences.
  2. Use explicit questions and direct answers.
  3. Prefer specific ranges and dates over vague claims.
  4. Name the entity, product, regulation or workflow being discussed.
  5. Separate evidence from marketing language and state limitations.

What GEO adds

GEO covers generative systems that synthesise multiple sources, including comparison and shopping assistants. Balanced comparison pages can help because they answer the decision a visitor is actually asking rather than presenting only a one-sided pitch.

A practical checklist

Check whether every page is crawlable, answerable, source-worthy, current and internally linked. Use valid schema only when it matches visible content. AEO and GEO improve the probability of being understood and cited; they do not guarantee AI citations or rankings.
